I have started putting a lot of serius thought in to this. So I will have a nice album and still have the mint set. My problem is I want the mint set and the unc. set for the album so buying two solved my problem

It sounds like you need 4 sets then......
One for you, one for the Dansco, one for the 8 year old, and one for the 5 year old.

Texas Trader, your kids sound like mine, that is why I can not show them everything I want to buy. My 8 year old is into LMC's and wanting to start Kennedy half dollars so right now I can keep it to circulated coins for now. But I know that soon enough she will see the benefit of breaking down sets and putting them into multiple sets and then my world will change for sure. |

And if you and your girlfriend have a fight and the kid has the gun?  You stated inexpensive. What your saying is pending on just what do you mean by that? Based on what guide price sheets or books? And just because the seller was a dealer at a coin show does not mean he knows what he is doing and may be selling them for more or less than they are worth. Also, some times dealers at coin shows also sell Unc coins from the sets they broke open so you could just buy the ones you need. Regardless if I were you I'd buy as many as possible for all your kids, wife, nieces and nephews and me for suggesting them. Every year for more years than I can remember I purchase about 10 to 15 proof and unc sets from the Mint. I also purchase about the same in Red Books and use almost all for Christmas Presents. Not sure if your kids would appreciate them as a Christmas present, but worth a try. |

The best thing about these sets is that they have the very best coins that were made for circulation. With most of the coins there is no other source anyway but that's because quality was so poor nobody saved the rolls.
There is a lot of variation in quality of the sets so it probably pays to be a little picky with them.
It's remarkable that most of these sets are actually cheaper than the individual parts even on the wholesale market.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.
