Yes like spruett001 said, always post pictures of the entire coin obv and rev first. Them zoom in on the areas in question.

I'm no expert. If I need a pointer, arrow or scanning electron microscope to see the anomaly, forget it. (Just my opinion) If I can see it with the naked eye, I know I have something.

Remember, condition is everything! If the coins are beat up, probably not worth getting graded.

Very nice doubles USS! Here are more pics of my coin. I just noticed on the reverse pics that the "M" in America looks scratched but it's not. Something was on the camera lens or coin when I took the pic. I hope these help. I'm more than happy to post more pics if requested. 1976-Kennedy-Half-Dollar-Possibly-Doubled-Died?-Need-Help-Please

There is a doubled master die listed on varietyvista for 1976 business strikes, but it only mentions a light spread on the date so your coin is not this.

Your second pic looked promising but I was comparing it to images of 1976 bicentennials on PCGS, and it doesn't look like there's any extra thickness to the letters on your coin. If your coin was a DDO I would expect to see that.

I'd like to see more pics, maybe put the lighting at a few different angles, to see if there is actually any notching on the letters or is it just reflection/glare. And get full coin pics as well.

Edit: You made a post while I was making this one.
Your coin is a 1976-D, I think everyone was under the impression this was a 1976 plain. This would not be the first doubled die for 1976-D if it actually is one.

Try this: Make a side by side of the outsides of 'GOD' of this coin and another coin the same year. See if one set of devices are larger? See if they are the same overall size. If they are both the same size, then there is no spread. It is a machine doubled example. If one is showing a spread, then it is a doubled die. But I feel it is Machine Doubling as it doesn't appear as enlarged from what I can see. But you really need to see a larger area. Try 'IN GOD' instead of just a few devices. That will tell you more. If you could provide an image of 'IN GOD', then I could make an side by side for you.

I don't think any of your photos are usable to make a doubled die attribution. I think Tanman2001's post above is correct...MDD with reflection glare, not a doubled die.

I need images like this:

Extra space on each side to trim down, so no devices are cut too short.

NewBie,

Thank you for trying and posting several images, however none are adequately clear enough to make any determination on being a DD.To me it does not look like it is a Doubled Die.

Well even if it isn't DD, I feel like I'm getting better at knowing what to look for so I'll keep searching for now
