Some of the detail, i.e. detail in the hand, the "S" mark etc looks a little blurred together maybe?

Kinda looks genuine, but has some pitting and environmental damage.

Where did you obtain it?

I bought a junk drawer lot on ebay a little while back and that was one of the items in it. Not sure if they didn't know what they had or of they knew it was fake, so didn't care it was in there.

An accurate weight might immediately determine the matter,

Yeah...what's the weight. Also let's see the edge.

The fingers appear to have 4 fingers...the ribbon looks good ...and the arrowhead over the 2 looks good. I think it's good, but let's get the weight. Looks like a type 2 reverse which it should being after 1877.

Looks fake to me. Very blunt details, weird color, overall pitted surfaces that could be a combination of casting voids and corrosion.
In addition to getting an accurate weight I'd check with a magnet.

Take it to a dealer, and have it checked for ping tone and weight.

Surfaces are a little odd, but I'm not getting any major red flags. If it passes weight ans isn't magnetic I'd say there is a pretty fair chance it is good.

I would take it to a dealer. The environmental damage makes this a details coin, but its still worth some money if genuine. My gut is telling me its real but I think this is one you have to see in person in order to be sure.

Looks okay to me. One of the tell-tale signs of a fake Trade dollar is the off-color, and this color looks good.
