Are you sure it's a clash? Or are they die cracks? I can't find a good overlay for that nickel.

AU-55. Eye Appeal 8/10. Super buy.
I've been looking for one with no die cracks or clash marks for 20+ years in ANY MS grade. I've seen many hundreds, all with those die problems

Could be cracks I suppose. They looked kind of straight to me for cracks. The raised line to the left of the cross looks like it maybe a crack but it goes from field to device (cross) and then to the inside outline of the cross seamlessly.
I also find it striking that in the reverse, the stars and rays are so well struck but the lettering is so faint. All the stars look fully split.

I see a few die cracks and these are common, but strong die clashing is rare in the Shield nickel series and worth a significant premium.I don't see any clashing. Possibly scibe marks running north of the annulet through the lower cross of the Order of Calatrava.

First year of the nickel and there were problems with strikes on these. This coin is so close to MS. Better photos showing the surfaces better might prove it. I'm at AU-58 even with these photos.

Where's the G in god? Looks like it fell off and left the faintest mark

It maybe just a worn die, with cracks, missing the G and many worn letters on the reverse.

this came in. thoughts? clashes in the fields at the lower half of the cross above the shield are ridiculous.

What you are seeing above the shield around the cross are scribe marks, not clashing. Go to http://www.shieldnickels.net. It was set up by Howard Spindel, an expert on Shield nickels. It is an invaluable resource. Nice pick up by the way as this coin retails closer to $300. A nice AU-58!
