The date is wrong, fake. I guess your coin shop don't know much about Morgan's.

The 92 cc in 100% fake. A known Chinese CC counterfeit on the reverse there is a scratch on breast feathers and a cast bump above the d in dollar. I agree the 92 S also looks fake.

A lot of the Morgan counterfeits are made with 90% silver. Here is the counterfeit reverse match for your 92CC that was also made from 90% silver. This counterfeit reverse can be found on many dated CC coins.

Quote: They must be good fakes then Not even close, just from the date alone you can clearly see they are fake. Look at a real one on ebay or one of the grading services websites, you will easily see the difference.

As noted upthread, the 1892-CC is a known Chinese 1.0 counterfeit. On your coin, the eagle's right wing (our visual left) is too close to the denticles. The eagle's left wing (our visual right) is amputated. The denticles are wrong. The spacing between the wreath and lettering and between the lettering and denticles is wrong. The reverse stars are wrong. The leaves in the wreath point incorrectly. The arrowheads are wrong. The date is wrong. The coin is polished to eliminate the texture from casting. And if you shoot a picture of the reeding, it will be wrong, too. This is a cast Chinese counterfeit, with reeding added by a Castaing machine to cover the casting lines, then buffed to hide the surface evidence of casting. The only 1892-S VAM I can find with the "1" in the position of your coin is VAM-11. Your coin lacks the VAM-11 markers. The "9" is wrong on your coin for VAM-11, and the "2" on your coin is in the wrong position for VAM-11. The surface of your coin has bumps suggesting a cast counterfeit, and also has been buffed. I suspect that the reeding will also be wrong. Neither coin has a cartwheel effect. Both coins have similar buffed surfaces. Both have inconsistencies with known genuine 1892-CC and 1892-S coins. Without having the coins in hand, it is impossible to assess the other factors, such as weight, specific gravity, "ping" test, Eddy Current slide test, and examination of the reeding. That said, the 1892-CC is counterfeit. There is a strong probability that the 1892-S is also counterfeit. This is news none of us like to deliver, but it is our best assessment of what we are seeing from the photos.

I am no expert but the obvious difference between the ones in these pics and the real one (and checking my coin) is the 2 is way off and the mint mark is very different....

The fonts are triple the thickness, they almost look like they're done in crayon. Time to find a new dealer, don't ever go back to that one again.
