We open threads all the time on exceptionally sketchy ebay auctions. I haven't seen a coin jar or roll end cc morgan lately. Now it's the 200 year old safe. I saw someone trying to flip one of the safe coins a couple days ago.

Now I'm wondering if OP had a specific auction in mind.

I assume that this is the forum and governing rules where qualified members are able to post a link to an auction site selling a coin 'they' own: http://goccf.com/t/17485But my goal is 'not' to sell something that 'I' own. I only want to create a thread link to an exquisite coin(s) that will be taking bids and then follow it until the hammer drops. I only created this thread in an attempt to educate all interested parties on some very high end coin(s). I only wish I owned coins like these. Once I get CCF's clarification and approval to do this I will reach out to the owner to determine whether or not he even wants to establish a CCF link to his Heritage Auction coin(s). If there does happen to be some issue here by posting in the aforementioned thread, could I just make an arbitrary post in another forum appropriate for the denomination etc. I have 'zero' skin in the game here but am just a spectator in the nosebleed seats whose primary goal is to remain in good standing with CCF. Until I receive approval on both ends I will say, however, that just one of the gold coins should sell for over $ 1 mil.

The site will stop you if it's one of the bad sites. If @bobby says it is ok then it is ok. I look forward to seeing some eye candy!

Would anybody still be interested in seeing the results of the auction having the designation of "Rarest Regular-Issue 20th Century American Coin" that hammered down three days ago?

You'll need your Heritage login credentials to taste 'eye candy for a sweet tooth': https://coins.ha.com/itm/saint-gaud...-dailystatusIf I had anywhere near this kind of cash, I would have been $560,000 short just to have met the winning bid: quite a tasty morsel

Fascinating write up. You know it's rare when there's a paragraph description of every coin of that issue!

For sure eye candy, but this analysis was the most interesting part of the HA description for me: Quote: The small surviving population of 1927-D double eagles, 12 or 13 pieces all told, is neatly divided into three classes:
--Those which have appeared with some regularity (although not frequency) in the marketplace, and here we count seven pieces (#1-#7 below);
--Those one or two numismatic phantoms, coins that have seemingly disappeared from the numismatic marketplace, possible duplicates, one unseen since 1973, the other (if indeed it is another) unseen since 1957 (#8 and #9, respectively); and
--The four coins presumably off the market forever, ensconced in longstanding museum collections -- the Connecticut State Museum piece and the three in the Smithsonian (#10-#13 below).

Whenever I find any featured item in the magazine, Intelligent Review, the intrigue seems to bump up a notch which is what happened when I read about the 27D Saint discussed in this thread. Some of the info. was already covered on Heritage's website but there are still a few new tidbits in the mag. review. Enjoy: http://intelligentcollector.com/golden-secret/

Back to the other point that T-BOP brought up: Quote: Spence , that was a rather fine answer you gave to OP . Maybe some day you will become a mod Spence has always been helpful and dispenses wise advice, in my opinion. I would seriously second the nomination for Spence for Moderation-Hood.
