I'll split the difference and say AU-50. 26-S in higher grades? NICE!

Tough. XF55?

XF45 all day long. Could easily be AU53 or 55. Lots of underlying luster.

AU55, but more importantly an mid early die state, with good spacing. You don't often see these with this much detail. I'd rather have this one than a 64bn that was "mushy"

Have to admit that is a strong strike 26-S . But PCGS MS-64BN went completely over my head .

On reflection, I was clearly too low at 45 by a solid 10 points, but I sure don't see 64 here.

A fair grade from PCGS. Honestly I don't think there is much holding this back from MS-65BN. My first impression was that it was MS and rather flawless.

Very nice! Now that I look again, I should have said AU-63. The friction on the hair, cheek, beard and lapel gets me....along with the MDS obverse. However, the reverse is 64 all day long IMO. I'm still surprised they didn't 63 that coin. As I recall, even on photograde this coin matches the 63 example. My bet is this coin has eye appeal and cartwheels under the brown. Those make a strong case for a higher grade as well as being a key date. These are known for their rather soft strikes.

Thanks for sharing!

I think the luster on this one gives it away really fast as an MS example. I'm keeping my eye out for it as I buy more of these. Many BN examples seem undergraded.
