It seems to have been struck with a quarter? Atleast thats what I see and the the last 7 in the date appears to be on top of that, or done after?

Plus the coin edge at the top, how its rolled over the text but hasnt acctually damaged any of it.. This was no hammer

Damage is damage, regardless. The date was not struck over damage. This is not mint damage of any sort, it is PMD.

But that doesn't answer why there appears to be another image perpendicular to Lincoln..

It's been beat to death. worth at least 2 cents for copper melt value. Who did it or why who knows. I don't believe the mint has a die that looks like your coin.100% PMD/ PSD

My guess is it spent a week in someone's garbage disposal. Egadz. It's destroyed.

I agree that it's all just random damage. The other images you see are just Pareidolia.

Severely damaged. I like the garbage disposal possibility--or something very similar. Cannot rule out someone whacking away at the coin several years ago with a hammer, with some pliers work in there too.
