It's apparently true -- it was on the Coin World site a while back and we discussed it here even before it was official: http://goccf.com/t/354057 (there are a couple of videos there you may find interesting). If they do change the design it will be interesting to see what happens to the last of the "old design" 2020 models since their seems to be a shortage due to the plague.

The latest I've come across, from January of this year. No design changes as of yet. Improved Security Features on American Silver Eagle Coins One change that is likely to be welcomed by all collectors, including ardent fans of the Mercanti design, is the introduction of new security features. As minting technology improves, so too does the ability of counterfeiters to create replicas. Other world mints, such as the Royal Canadian Mint and the British Royal Mint, have introduced security features in recent years. Now the US Mint looks set to follow suit with three levels of security. The first level will be visible to the naked eye, making trade among collectors easier, especially online. The second will be something that those in the trade know to look for. Third, and most intriguing, the new issue is likely to include a forensic feature that is identifiable only to the Mint and the Secret Service. While the first two features will likely prove extremely difficult for counterfeiters to replicate, the third will be impossible. 2020 bullion ASEs are available... they're just still $7-8 over spot. I'll be waiting to get my 2020s until that comes down to something much more reasonable.
Just a reminder that at this point only the "bullion" ASEs (those without mint mark) will be getting the new treatment/design in 2021. We'll have to wait for the collector editions (proof, burnished, etc.) to follow suit.

Actually, there are quite a few good looking candidates. It would be nice if they'd rotate to a new one every year.

I liked #'s 1,2,16, and 30, Some of the others seemed a little too "busy" for me or just uninteresting, and a couple (not saying which ones) looked kind of cartoonish.

I like 8 and 19A. (Both are the third on the second line of their sections.)
The eagle in 34 looks like a statue griffin.

My favorite was #36. I like the arrow and olive branch and the ring around the coin. I, too, would be in favor of rotating designs each year.
