Hey! I lost a few large note gold certificates. Maybe your grandmother found them and put them in the safe. If you find them please send them to me

You need a professional lock smith.
Attempts to open the safe by other methods usually ends up getting the contents damaged (or destroyed) and people hurt.

If a spring inside the lock is broken, it becomes a much tougher job for a locksmith. If that is the case, the lock may be unpickable. The lock in this situation may have to be drilled out with a diamond drill, thus destroying the lock. It then becomes a matter of practicable choice that the safe with a new lock fixed in, is re furbished.
Normally, safe are used for storing documents, which may? be entirely irrelevant today. Obviously no one knows for sure. Any jewelry inside has to be heat protected and documents have to be protected from heat charring, so flame cutting is almost always ruled out. Was your grandmother financially well off? When, to the best of anyone's knowledge, was the safe last opened?

In the event that an internal spring in the lock of my safe breaks, or either of the keys cannot be found, I have deliberately made some barely visible weak points in the safe, such that diamond tools can be used to open the safe, (thus damaging the safe in such a way that it can be subsequently repaired.

After looking at the pics, it's *possible* that you can remove all the screws and pull the face off the safe.

Quote: Then what's the sense in having a safe in the first place ? Locks only keep honest people honest. To be serious, they are more effectively used to slow a thief down more than it is to stop them. Security is rated by how much it "raises the cost" of entry.

Is it a 3 number or 4 number combination? Brand name would help, too.
