So can anyone identify the coins depicted? Look to be foreign types perhaps.

Quote: So can anyone identify the coins depicted? Look to be foreign types perhaps. but I'm not entirely confident that they're all supposed to represent specific coin types. In particular, the coin immediately right of the saucer (if that's a coin) looks bimetallic, which shouldn't have been possible in 1947.

Our Family shopped at an A&P Grocery Store in the 70's. That ad is too funny. My dad was a coin collector though..
Center top coin 2nd drawer down looks like a Turkish coin.

Tacc, our neighborhood had an A&P on one corner, a dime store and gas station on two others, while the fourth has been an empty lot since the '50s. We frequented all three. Actually, bimetallic coins were first used during the reign of Hadrian, and have been used (if sparingly) since then. Two examples from my collection: One Penny Model coins issued by Joseph Moore between 1844 - 1848 Zenoria Lumber Co. token, 1920 - 1937

Dig the Roman Bi-Metalic coins, I'll have to do some research on those.
