Ok, thanks, will cancel. Very odd though, seller has 1200 feedback, 100%, and brick and mortar store. They sent me a big long message, and asked me to contact ebay customer service to confirm.

Sounds like a scam to me too. Could be a hijacked ebay account.

Only deal with this through the Resolution Center on ebay.

Yes, attempted to pay like normal, and a red message appeared across the top of the screen that said, some sellers not accepting payments at this time. I contacted the seller, and they said ebay was phasing out paypay for them by Feb 2021. They asked me to contact ebay about it. I will contact ebay tomorrow.

Paypal is part of ebay, so ebay is phasing out?

Edit: Just Google and this article explain it.

If the ebay listing says that they accept Paypal it probably is suspicious. Hijacked accounts are usually stolen accounts that have been dormant. See what other items they sold recently, look at other items they have for sale. Often times they copy ended auctions and steal images. Might be better off that you didn't pay yet. Call ebay.

It wouldn't hurt to copy and paste the item number here. You'll get better advice.

The seller looks legit. I would NOT pay unless they take Paypal since the listing says they do.
As for the coin, personally, I would not buy it anyway. It is not rare by any stretch of the imagination.
I think the cost is very high for a Bicentennial half. Sorry but I'd consider myself lucky that things turned out like this.

For a 66 it's actually a pretty good price. The Bicen Halves are a bit of a conditional scarcity in grades higher than 65.

Yeah, not a bad price. Seller keeps telling me to pay through paypal, but not through ebay.& I said I'd pay through ebay or they can cancel.

I am quite surprised that MS66 is worth that much or more. I stand corrected.

Looks like the seller got their ducks in a row. Was able to pay normally. Thanks.

I have purchased from ebay sellers that didn't accept PayPal before. Most recently thephoenixgoldcorp in August.

They sent an invoice to pay through authorize.net.

ebay is changing their preferred payment processing vendor - they spun off PayPal as a separate company a couple of years ago and the most favored payment vendor agreement is ending.

However, the new payment processor does not allow coins et al to be purchased. This is something that ebay is supposedly work on, in the mean time, they should be continuing to let sellers receive payment from PayPal.

ebay is also moving people to "managed payments" which isn't precisely the same as the new vendor, although ebay can't explain the differences in any coherent manner that I've seen.

It may be that the seller got moved to mangled payments, discovered they couldn't get paid and contacted ebay to be moved back.
