My son gave me a 2nd Lowe/Fraser $20 note last night, 2 very prominent folds unfortunately.

Still a keeper though.

That is very sweet of your young fella.

I'm still hunting for my 2nd.

Happy with the 1 I have but another 1 or 2 would be fine.

What makes it the long signature variety?
What distinguishes from "short" signature?

Nice, I'll have to keep my eyes out - I'm sure someone said they were only in Victoria but clearly they're spreading.

Looks like around 10 million of the old and 173 million of the new: https://www.coincuriosity.com/view/...ar-note.html
Not overly rare.

Interesting. Thanks.

I wonder if we can trust those figures.

Numbers are from the Reserve Bank website - I'd hope they're reasonably accurate.

Do they use the same serial numbers but with different prefixes?

i.e. AA 19 0189258 and EA 19 0189258

Yes that's right - the same number will be used across an entire sheet of notes.

Pulled 3 of them from ATM. Maybe they aren't so scarce as first thought?

Probably not - they're definitely out there.
I've found two uncirculated examples and I haven't been making an effort to look for them.

yeah there quite a few out now, note people are either looking for low numbers or specific matching pairs of serials either running numbers (UNC) or prefix alphabetically
