Quote: the Pont du Gard near Nimes in Southern France, as it is the only surviving Roman aqueduct with three tiers of arches! Great photo (thanks for sharing "NumisRob") For a 2000 year old bridge - it looks to be in great shape. The new Europa series is much more vibrant looking than it's predecessor.

I finally found my first banknote signed by Ms Lagarde. Of course, it's a €5 printed in Austria (plate number N020) which were the first to show up in circulation. The note is already a bit worn.

Thanks for posting, redlock! First one I've seen. It may be some time before I get to a Eurozone country again!
It's funny how the signatures get easier to read - the first two were illegible squiggles!

Nice €500 note A few days ago, I actually saw one in the wild. I hadn't seen one there for at least five years. It was at a huge hardware store. I was waiting at the central help desk/central cashier point when a cashier from a ''regular'' check-out line came. A customer wanted to pay with a €500 note. But the cashier didn't have enough return money in his till. The lady at the help desk put the €500 in one of those machines that check if the note is genuine or not. It was. Then, she put it in the central till -- faster than you can say ''Hello.'' She gave the cashier ten €50 notes in return.
