Thank you Adam,
I am a true romantic and I picture a Tom Sawyer type character carrying this in his pocket.
Atleast with a graded coin I avoid being fooled.
Thank you for the tip

Despite the light scratches which would detail it, it's got nice VF sharpness. It looks like a genuine Sheldon-102 variety.

It is such a beautiful coin. I am wondering if it is worth taking the gamble on it. I don't think I could afford a graded coin with such nice details.

In order to buy this series raw you have to be able to determine the variety. The coin appears to have a obverse 6 leans sharply left and a reverse of 1794. I can not find where these two dies were used together. If the 6 is a leaning left, the coin may be a counterfeit as the reverse of 1795 was only used with the leaning left 6.

The date matches S-102, reverse of 94.

Thank you Slider for your observation. From Zuries detective work, this picture of the Sheldon 2 Variety looks like a match to my rookie eyes. The tilt on the 6 matches. It is probably not helping that the 6 has also taken a good knock. Either way, I am grateful for your tips and I will research further. Thank you for your time

I want to see that 2.5 Indian. And I don't know where the photos came from but, the last thing you want to see is someone holding a coin with oily fingers

On the Sheldon 102, there is a die crack from the B to E and E to the hair that I am not seeing on the OP example and the bottom of the E is straight on the Sheldon example. I am a pass on the OP example with the hit on the 6, curved bottom of E and no die crack.

He could have been carrying an old coin his grandfather gave to him #128524;
Cheers Slider, I am assuming die crack evidence will vary upon time of striking. The curved E weirds is also quite strange. Will continue the research.

The die crack isn't required for S-102. Here's one without the obverse die crack. I agree the curve at the base of the E is a bit odd, but I suspect it's the result of a hit. I still think from the pictures, it looks genuine.

Has a well above average planchet. Love the original tone. Scratches hurt the value.
