Thanks, Kloccwork419, Can it be both as it forms around the edge. The rim Cud forming as a break and then the fin rim. Really thank you. I looked at this thing last night, and thought of so many things. then the thin line along the edge, I thought is it separating from the rim? HUH?

I thought that also, but the only ragged area I see is above the U in trust and the area above God is smooth flowing like a Cud. Thanks for your insight.

Look on the outside edge of that area on the coin. Does it have ends there on the outside edge? If so it is a struck though debris. A fin would flatten straight down, not fold over that far. If it were a Cud or a rim Cud, it would rise higher than the rim, not level with the rim. Not a doubled die, but the die has been polished down making the motto devices smaller than normal would be. So I feel this is a struck through debris on the coin edge.

WOW, COOP, I didn't even think about that one... HAHA,,, Maybe I need to stop staying up so late. I never even come close to thinking that one. Ok let me ask this, regardless, I am going to keep it, but is it worth anything. And Thanks COOP for the info. I LOVE this forum Tabby

Not really. I don't anyone who specializes in struck throughs. Did you see the ends on the edge of the coin. I would like images of that if there is. (An image I don't have yet)

That last picture is by far the best one to show what is/has happened to this coin. from that view it looks like a Rim Fin that was flattened over. (but for me - that is just a guess, as I'm still learning how to grade coins)

But it is not a Rim Fin. They are not that large. This is a struck debris that was wrapped on the rim and the edge of the coin. But the last image is the best one.

That's quite a large/long piece of debris for a "struck through"..just saying...wonder where it could have come from?

Sometimes from other planchets in the bins. Perhaps pre-lamination debris. On sin cents because they are fragile, the rims will break on on coin and get struck on the next coin. These look big under a scope, but are very small flakes struck on a coin.
