Just Opened Rolls Of 1976 D Quarters And Came Across This So Far.

They were in the original rolls from the bank or mint, wherever rolls like this were purchased back then. Never been opened. Unless they would do something like that at the mint, or the bank?

Odd for sure, I've never seen anything like it, makes me lean towards PSD/PMD...can we get a pix of the wrappers?

Hey Greasy, Probably a newbie mistake, but the paper from the rolls I threw away. I can tell you they were red in color, folded at the ends, and so tightly rolled, the paper came off in pieces. They were stamped with "Bank of San Lorenzo, Calif" or "Bank of San Leandro, Calif." I cant remember which city. I do remember the "calif." because I though how odd it was to abbreviate the state like that. And again it was stamped not printed. Each coin on the end of the roll are dyed a shade of red, and all coins rims are all a shade of red too, from the paper.

These rolls were never opened untill last Friday, by me. They were my Boss's fathers. He died a few years back and his coin collection was split up between his boys. My boss has no interest in coins, but since I've gotten into the hobby, he asked me to take a look at what he has. I am the only one to open these rolls since 1976. Because of these circumstances, I don't see any way that there could be PMD.

Thank you Coop! That still makes me scratch my head on how in the heck that coin got into that roll. I've got four rolls of nothing but 1976 D quarters. I don't think I'll ever know. Thanks again for everyone's input, very disappointed now. :( Lol Someday I'll find something cool!
