Too bad you didn't find any 1970s, but, the 1969 and 1971s have somewhat low mintages too.

Check those '77's...there is a "Low 7" and a "High 7" variety.

There is also a 1996 Near and Far 6.

And keep a watch out for 00 and 01's with no P below the Queen.

To identify the 51 high relief, you have to look to the last "A" in GRATIA on the obverse. If the "A" points directly to a denticle, you have the high relief, if it points between denticles, you have the more common low relief.

This is the first time I am hearing of a closed 55!

in Numicanada they seem to think its worth $3-4 for a VF but no idea of its rarity or collectability. Is yours a closed 5? If so, cool!

One Numicanada member found none in his 14 1955's and another found one in 50, so that could be an indication of rarity. Mine are all open 5's.

There is also a closed 1956 as per this:

http://www.numicanada.com/forum/vie...asc&start=60

A quick search on Google found no other mention of it.

See this is what I love about coin collecting, There is always something new to be found..I'm really glad I don't know much about the hobby because every time I hear something new and get to go back through my collection you feel the same way as the day you got a new coin or found something good in change. I only had three 55's And found one closed 5 So I got lucky I guess. Now back to the 56 I have about 10 of those. Thanks again!
