As worn as the coin is, it's value is above face (five cents), perhaps 75 cents to a buck.

Wow that's amazing. Most of the coins claimed to be DDO are not and he posted a coin not as a DDO and it turned out to be one. |

The reason for the low value is the Philly mint made 58,264,000 Buffalos in 1935. So even 84 years later, there are still more floating around than there is a collecting base to drive enough demand to outpace supply and inflate prices much. Most of the dates of the 1930s are the same way, produced by the 10s of millions (1936 was over 100 million); such that bulk lots and bargain bins for Buffalos are mostly full of the late 1930s coins. Buffalo nickels are beautiful coins though! I am slowly working on a set and I appreciate them. |

Gary: the hardest thing about coins is the grading. Take some time and spend some money on some basic books. It gets much easier from there.
