First one I've seen. A collector might want it, just to have one. But price? (I have no clue.)

I don't know how I would ever go about selling a coin lol, this one though I'm happy how I turned out and it will definitely be one of my educational pieces even if worth face value:)

Out of curiosity since you pros haven't seen many or any how rare is this die event? I realize it's not an error or very sought-after, but I'm curious how rare this is.

Wow. that's surprising coop, considering I found it on an American coin, and I mayb have 1 -2 rolls of dimes I've pulled from circulation.

Do you think there would be a small premium on a coin like this? Or would it just depend on if a collector even wanted it I could mayb sell it for a few dollars? Just kinda trying to get a Handel on what it's worth if anything. I feel like I may have seen another double collar clash coin on this site but I can't find it. If you experts had to be guess how rare is this die event? I'm surprised coop has never seen one. Mike Diamond never mentioned if he has seen this either. I see some collar clashes have sold on ebay with a bit of a premium, though I have no intention of selling anything on ebay ever and there is sold listings for just about every type of error/variety/die event that I can think of.

So no one knows how rare of a die event this would be(probability). And I guess even if it is super rare with die events it's all in the eye of the beholder(me) and the eyes of any numismatic collector of die events that would decide what it would be worth if on the market. I would just like to know if it's like 1/1,000,000? 1/10,000,000? 1/1,000,000,000? Even if there isn't much of a market for this if any it would be nice to know for my own knowledge.

I guess it would depend on how bad the error collector wanted it. It would not be the only one. This is die damage. So after the event happened, all other coins after it will have this die event on them. So if the die was in it's later die state, as much as 54% of the run of these coins would have the double collar clash. Or if it was noticed, the die could have been pulled? Chances are it was over looked. So there could be hundreds of thousands of thes? Now that this has been revealed, more people will be looking for these. I would check that denomination in your area to see if more in your area. Because some batches are sent to localities and found there. So many may be circulating where you live. So keep it on the down low for a bit. Just rechecking the date, it's probably spread out now. I was thinking it was a current date coin. Doh! (_8^(|)=

@coop, living in Canada I mayb come across an average of 2 American dime per 4/5 rolls. So I mayb have looked at 100 americain dimes. So is this a die event that has not been found until my post?iv been trying to find another in any year and no luck online. I have another 1988 but it does not have the same effect. I'd really love to see another example especially if it's from a different year or denomination. I know die damage generally has little to no premium, but it be nice to have a probability rate. It would also be nice to hear from anyone(of there are any) that collect this type of thing.

If anyone is going to spend the time trying to find one please let me know when you find on. I'm pretty happy if this is a new discovery. An exciting feeling to help contribute to the hobby. Dont know if anyone would spend the time but if this coin is ever documented on a website or in a book please let me know, it would be super exciting to see one of my finds published anywhere.

If this is the first time this error has occured should I have it certified and graded? Iv never sent a coin to be graded so wonder if it would be beneficial?

This is not a unique specimen. I have at least one example of a dime with two separate arcs of collar clash. It is a comparatively rare error, to be sure. However, the grading services will most likely label it simply as "collar clash". The error is not worth anything near what you'll spend to slab it.

@mikedimond, thanks I'll just 2×2 it then. If you get some time please post your example as well.
It's weird to me there is no info or examples online but there is for single clashes.
