PurloinedCoins,
WADR,until you can take and post better photos (and not so many per post) there is no point in doing so. We can not help you with this quality of photos...sorry.The better the photos you take and post, the better we can help you.

Queen Victoria must be getting old if she's started growing a beard like that.

Not seeing any doubling based on the photos.

Ok so I was thinking due to thickness and shawdowing maybe some kind of Machine Doubling or whatever..obviously not DD..also JOHN1, I'm using my phones camera and they come out great until I have to resize them to fit 300kb and when cropping they zoom all crazy and end up looking wild. I actually do know how to take pictures dude and am posting the best I can get as of now. I'm pretty sure you have probably pbotographed 10s of thousands of coins..ive prob done 50. Thak you for your patience. Any tips on how to crop pics without them zooming?

There is a whole section here on CCF devoted to coin photography. Perhaps you should check it out. They can help you there.

Until I started paying attention to the different designs of the obverse and reverse, there were several years that messed with me, as far as thickness. This reverse (RDV-002), ran from 69 to 72 and you will notice these years will have a thicker, chunkier font than others. Here's a link to the different obverse and reverse through the Lincoln series.

Obverse for all Lincolns http://www.varietyvista.com/01b%20L...arieties.htm

Reverse for Memorial Lincolns http://www.varietyvista.com/01b%20L...arieties.htm

These also show transitional varieties to keep an eye open for.

Purloined, we really DO want to see you succeed! Practice your coin photography before posting ( if it isn't sharp, keep trying) and keep asking questions! Realise not every coin is an error coin (error coins are rare), keep searching, and lastly, Bonne chance!

If anything was going on, the devices are all smaller than normal, which indicates a polished die example. When the fields are reduced, the height of the devices are reduced, thus making them smaller on the coins struck with that die.
1971-D-Lincoln-Memorial-Cent.doubling?
Note how the die reduction, makes the device smaller in size? No premium for this though. Just the knowledge of knowing what happened.

Awesome! Thank you guys a ton for dropping jewels on me! Like I only just recently learned what device meant in relation to numismatics lol..theres this awesome coin shop in Milford Ohio near me and I started going and bringing TONS of coins like the one posted above, so sure I had a basketful of errors, only to be sent home at nil..but I keep coming back and back, each time with fewer Nd fewer possibilities as I learn more and I know the gents that run the shop probly shake their heads as I'm leaving and remember EXACTLY how they were just like me 45 years ago, hungry for knowledge and addicted to the treasure hunt...and thats what makes me keep pushing on..i refuse to quit and I WILL learn to find EVERY kind of variety there is! Yall rock, stay wavy!

Well keep in mind that they sell coins. Sometimes they don't see what we see on them that makes they year varieties. What is a year variety? Some years have large/small dates. Some of these are 50/50 so they are different but they don't have an extra premium for them. IE:
Cents:
1960-D has large and small date coins, but as mentioned the Denver ones were half and half, so no premium for these:
1960 plain small dates have a premium on them. So if they are BU, you might check to see if they are inflated in price or not? How can your tell the difference between the large and small dates? On the small dates look for the mark on the inside of the '6':
1971-D-Lincoln-Memorial-Cent.doubling?
Also check the proof cents for the small dates to see if the price is different between the two? (Some shops may not notice the differences, some do.

There are other different reverses on cent that are interesting to look for on their 2X2 coin stock.
1988 and 1988-D cents with the RDV-006.
1971-D-Lincoln-Memorial-Cent.doubling?
Tough to see on an eye piece the differences, but a clue to find them a lot easier?
1971-D-Lincoln-Memorial-Cent.doubling?
Note the AME areas on these devices. Not the common ones are the rounded examples that year. So look for the flat larger devices on the RDV-006 dies. That is a lot easier to see with a glass. (This is a year variety as the RDV-006 was not to be used until 1989) So if you need a quick reference as to what the RDV-006 looks like? Look to match it with a 1989 Cent on that area.

1998-S and 1999-S proof sets. Look for the Close AM on the proof sets. What does the differences look like?
1971-D-Lincoln-Memorial-Cent.doubling?
They are supposed to be Wide AM's on these years, but some of the dies were hubbed with the wrong reverse with the Close AM. (1993 cents are all Close AM's which is normal that year, so don't buy these. But the Close AM's on the proofs on the 1998-S and 1999-S proof cents are the ones to search for. (Chances are slim, but a premium coin when found)

Quarters:
1956-1964 Philly reverses on the business strike coins. They used some proof reverses on those years that are called a type 'B' reverse. What does that look like?
1971-D-Lincoln-Memorial-Cent.doubling?
Note the differences on a proof quarter and a normal type 'A' quarter. The first clue is the space between the 'ES' on States:
1971-D-Lincoln-Memorial-Cent.doubling?
These are year varieties. Easy to spot when searching dealer stock when you know what to look for. They often miss these are they don't under stand why they will be out there. I was asked after I purchased one, and I told him the differences.

Well these will keep you busy looking for a time. But guess what. The images will be on your phone as a reference by looking this thread up again while your in the shop. Just a little bonus today to search for in the coin shops. A lot more, but you don't want to be evicted if you spend too long in there. LOL

CoopHome: What are year varieties? How they can be searched for in a local shop?
