I'm at EF 40/45 but I'm wondering if it's been cleaned? Are those hairlines?

XF-40 and maybe cleaned but ICCS normally doesn't comment on cleaning. I'm thinking weakly struck Obverse. The Reverse is stellar from the photo, with the great majority of the Obv "wear" on the hair curls around the ear. Be nice to see this in-hand rather than a computer screen.

The lower braid is worn almost flat. I don't see how this could be EF?

Actually, I think @Deductable is right. I was blinded by the hair towards the back of the head and the laurel. Taking it down to VF20 or maybe 30. Still thinking cleaned and retoned or partially cleaned.

Hey @Silver101, I agree with you too. It looks like it was cleaned about 100 years ago!

ICCS gave it F-15.

I bought it already graded, but thought it looked at least a VF-20. I agree that it may have been cleaned at some point, but not too noticeable when in hand. Thanks for your thoughts everyone.

A little surprised ICCS gave it F-15 due to the sharpness of the hair at the top left, but there is way too much wear on the braid below the ear for it to be any higher than VF-20 or possibly 30 at a strech.

I agree, Mikey. The Reverse is just too good to be the other side of the same coin, unless the Obv is convex(rounded).
