If I had a 7070 album. I would include these.

Seeing what others have included in their albums has triggered my thought process. I'm not working on a Dansco 7070 , and I already have a complete Type Set of the coins, so it's more of a theoretical / What If? scenario for me. Here are the four I would include in the album: 1. 1892 World's Columbian Exposition Half Dollar: It's not the most artistic of the classic-era commemorative coins, but it was the first and, with my enjoyment of the history behind things, I would have to include "Chapter 1" of the US Commemorative Coins story. 2. 1926 Oregon Trail Memorial Half Dollar OR 1927 Battle of Bennington / Vermont Independence Sesquicentennial Half Dollar: I'm a fan of high-relief, historical art medals and these two half dollars have always struck me as having the most "medal-like" design aesthetics. I like their relief and overall bold design approach. The Frasers (James Earle and his wife Laura Gardin) did a great job with the Oregon Trail coin and Charles Keck did a fabulous job with the Bennington-Vermont coin. I would be happy with either in my album OR 3. 1837 Roanoke Colony Memorial: A coin that commemorates an early English attempt at colonization in the New World - one that predates Jamestown and Plymouth - is a strong justification for inclusion in my set - the facts that I like the coin's design and that it is associated with the history of the state in which I currently live are nice bonuses! 4. 1982 George Washington 250th Birth Anniversary: For similar reasons to those I listed for the 1892 Columbian, I would also have to include the 1982 George Washington half dollar - the first coin of the modern series. I like to start stories at the beginning! And besides, I think it's a great-looking coin - Elizabeth Jones did a terrific job with its designs. And there you have it, my theoretical Dansco 7070 Album "US Commemorative Half Dollars" Set.

Quote: my theoretical Dansco 7070 Album "US Commemorative Half Dollars" Set I wholeheartedly agree, @Commems. If I had loose examples of those, they would be the ones in my 7070. Now, I have a 1920 Pilgrim, 1892 Columbian, Stone Mtn and '82D Washington in there. Reasoning? They are the only loose commemorative silver half dollars I have.

Quote: And there you have it, my theoretical Dansco 7070 Album "US Commemorative Half Dollars" Set. Nice selections commems. I, as well, do not have a Dansco 7070 to fill but as the owner of two complete classic silver sets (MS and circulated) I'll present my four choices for a theoretical Dansco set. The theme tying my choices together is the 'discovery' of the USA and subsequent population growth, expansion and war. Plus - I just like the look of the coins. 1892 Columbian PCGS MS66/CACThe first of the commemorative series and commemoration of the 'discovery' of the new world. Of course, the land had been populated already for 10's of thousands of years so discovery is a bit controversial. 1921 Pilgrim PCGS MS66/CACRepresents the expansion of the European population in the new world. You have to love the Mayflower image on the reverse. 1937-D Oregon Trail PCGS MS67+/CACRepresents the westward expansion of the country. Plus, it's my favorite of the all classic series designs. And last but not least- 1936 Gettysburg PCGS VG10Represents the civil war that preserved the union. Plus, it's my favorite in the circulated set. I can't imagine that this coin circulated long enough to earn those battle scars of commerce but somehow it did.

Booker T because I had it, Statue of liberty commem is something I hold dear to me as a new yorker and an immigrant, San Diego because I like the design and Columbian half because its the first commemorative by the mint. I will eventually replace Booker T with an Oregon Half because I love the design.

These are the Half Dollar Commemorative in my 7070 Album; ...yes, they are all replicas, as are most of my 7070 Album which I can pass around without worrying about damaging them.

Though the island is surrounded by New Jersey waters, Liberty Island, upon which the Statue of Liberty stands, is an exclave of the Borough of Manhattan, City of New York, State of New York. It falls within the jurisdiction of New York and is not considered a part of New Jersey. (Ellis Island is a different matter.)
