It looks authentic to me as well. Congratulations on a wonderful find. There is still magic in the world.

Quote: The double shipping is a killer LOL If it's real, it won't matter. Like @erafjel and @t360, I don't see any obvious tell of it being a fake, but I'm no expert.

I just found this exact coin online while putting my NGC submission information down. I mean "This exact coin" it was sold back around 2006 in France. The damage in the images is a dead match

@two, yikes that was quite a pick-up then--well done. Would you mind sharing with us what you paid for it?

Well, I bought 30 pounds of Raw foreign "non-US" coinage for $ 8.00 US per pound. So, for everything 240 US dollars, and I also found a 2.5 1945 gold Peso that has 150 US in gold. So, I think this group was a good buy!

here is a web page of this coin that has a web date around 2006. THIS is This coin! how it got into a junk bucket in the US from an auction in France in 2006 is beyond my imagination.

Quote: for everything 240 US dollars And previously sold - and considered authentic - by a major French auction house, that is an amazing find!

A humorous aside ... @twohawks' post with the earlier auction listing just helped me translate "gonfanon" which I ran across in a description of a different coin yesterday!
