In-hand it looks MS with full booming uninterrupted cartwheel luster. There are some bagmarks and it looks choice to me. Anywhere in the 62-64 range. It does not have discoloration or spots, which makes the surfaces very even in color and quite pleasing. No thoughts of sending it back.

Then what's going on around the date? Die polishing?

Because to me the luster sure looks Interrupted in that area. Fields in between/haloing 1895 do not look affected, but the fields surrounding the date sure look like scratches to me. If these were die polishing lines, they would come right up to the devices, but not pass over, and not leave that haloed effect of undisturbed luster.

That said, I'm not savvy with this series/gold in general, so someone enlighten me if this is a common occurrence. IMO, shouldn't make a difference.

Got a new phone a couple of weeks ago and was trying to photograph some coins from the past. This one, I was never able to capture the luster well. Let me know if you think the pics capture it better. Rereading this thread, I kind of miss the frog relentlessly telling me that what I bought was trash and that I should return the coin. As gold surpasses $4,200/oz, I am sure glad I didn't.

Excellent luster, although I still think the hairlines at the date would detail it. Regardless, any gold purchase a few years ago was a great buy!

I have a samsung galaxy s25fe which is the low end galaxy version. Got it because it ended up costing $250 after discounts and trade in at tmobile. Plenty awesome even though it isn't their flagship phone.

It seems that the hairlines around the date are on the field AS WELL as the date, suggesting that they are post mint.
