Makes me wonder if some younger person took some of their parent's coin collection and spent it to get their fix. I would ask to see if there is more in the change drawer.

very funny, I love a good prankster. However if he has lots of those stamps, I'll bet he could make a killing on 'ordinance' (pun intended) counter stamp sets for sale.

#5 is a well worn WW1 ordnance stamp, hence the soft edges. These stamps were used buy "US Army" inspectors as a final acceptance mark for barrels and receivers. This stamp apparently saw many weapons, but it still works. Kinda like a well worn coin die.
#2 punch is an early WW2 punch from the Winchester factory in Conneticut.
#'s 1 - 4 & 6 were used by Army inspectors at the Remington factory.
I can't recall the specifics about #'s 3 & 7. He told me but..... .
I tried to highlite the stamps with a China marker, it kinda worked.

Create a few 'sets' of these punches on Lincoln Cent coins and sell them on ebay. I'm sure you could profit from selling them, I have not seen anything like the punches here anywhere else.

Get a bunch of same year/mint coins and start counter punching. (But go with pre '82 coins so they will be all copper)

I would were it not for the epay fees and taxes. No epay for me. Maybe somewhere down the road, if I live to see 250 posts here I'll pound out a few.
