Great looking coin, I'd say at least MS-64.

I also think that it is a MS-63.

With the little dings or marks on the reverse (on the wing and some of the letters) from what I could see. And it looks like a pretty good hit under the cheek at the jawline. I'd say 63. The light hitting at that angle seems to me to cover a lot of stuff up.

The hit under the cheek might drop it to a 64 for me, but it's still nicer than a 63 IMO.

The new pictures are excellent and more revealing of flaws. This quarter is definitely MS and the luster is strong, but there are enough contact marks on the portrait and in the obverse field to keep the grade down. It might go MS-63 but I think MS-62 would be more realistic.

Still, a great coin and it's too easy to criticize under high magnification.

Color me jealous
I see it as an MS62, obverse limited
Regardless of the particular MS grade, the 35-D is a tough nut to crack in any MS grade and is one of the few early MS Washingtons that I still need to complete my set(other than the 32D&S and 36D that I cannot afford in MS so I have them in lesser grades).

Mind sharing what you paid?

I purchased it from Harlan J. berk at a grade of MS63 for $300 which I think was fair. I only have a few left to complete my set also and the 30's in ms grade are hard to find

Nice coin! I think MS-63 is a fair grade for that coin.

Using Numismedia, the $300 price is smack dab in the middle of MS62-63 values and IMO quite a fair price to pay for something that is so hard to find raw in lower MS grades.
