Also, so there is no value in this coin, right?

Devices are everything that's on the coin, portrait, letters, numbers. MD usually means less value, 99% of the time.

If it were, it would be circulation flattening:

Regular size of the 1957 date on the RPM image. You have to compare the devices size with the normal ones, from that year to have to compare with normal ones with. Different years are not all the same size of devices for a certain year. (Some years have large and small dates)

Hey guys, can you please help me settle this ongoing dispute, I'm having about this coin, as I was embarrassed to mention, that I bought this coin for$55, because the person I bought it from labeled this coin, as an DDO, NOT A MD COIN, and he's insulting me. By telling me, I'm not a collector, and only in it for the money. Also that any true collector, would love this coin for they're collection, and that he gave me a great deal on the coin for$55 and that this coin is very hard to find, and can people give me a honest opinion on a monetary value of this coin, even if it's only worth face value, or $1, or maybe 50 cents, so I can have a little bit of knowledge, when I tell him I didn't get a great deal on this coin for$55.I mentioned to him, tjsbay it is a md, and not a DDO, and he basically agreed and still said all that about the coin, that I mentioned, and don't see where he is coming from, or is he right in a way, I don't know, and you guys are the most knowledgeable people on the internet, that I've seen, so please, any thoughts and or opinions would be helpful, and just help me, to know, that I did, or did not get a great deal on this coin, thank you coin pros for all you do, and a pat on the back as well from me, have a good day, and hope to hear from several people, hopefully!

Don't ever deal with this person again. Is he a dealer? Or just a joe smo? Stick with this site and learn all you can about what is possible and not. Use the search tab here. Don't ever buy anything unless you know what it is.

I likely have more experience with these strong MD coins from this date than most on this site. Yes, it is just MD, but a pretty nice example on a decent grade coin. Generally, strong MD commands a small premium, maybe a couple bucks for a good one. That said, there are collectors out there that do focus on 1957-D as strong MD is common on this date and nice examples are desirable. Likely your coin would run about $12 among those collectors, so not trivial but not anywhere near what you paid for it.

From the bit you wrote I would suggest the seller is not to be trusted, and would just return the coin for full refund. It's not a DDO and if they included that anywhere in the listing then it's "not as described." I wouldn't argue with the seller, just send it back.

These strong MD coins from 1957-D are actually pretty cool, and I see why some collect them, but don't be bullied by a seller overcharging and trying to prevent a full refund if you aren't satisfied.

Thank you, everyone for the responses, and did exactly what you guys suggested and he gave me a full refund, and was very upset , but I felt like he did try and bully me and misrepresented what the coin actually was, and will only deal with this website, and nobody else, and I really really appreciate your guys honest opinions,it really means alot and thank you very much!!

Thanks for posting this. Congrats for holding firm.
