KY you have been putting up some very nice coins. I think PCGS has been very tough on these brown coins. I hope it's higher than the ms-64 I think it is. It seems like PCGS wants the coin to walk on water to get brown 65 or higher especially all brown. I am curious to know if I have been learning anything.

Fantastic strike for 1925-D. It looks like you have an unlisted obverse rim Cud, too. Nice eye appeal coin. I'm on the MS-64/MS-65 bubble. Like the upthread comments, I hesitate on the TrueView pics. I'll settle at MS-64 here, but it could go higher.

This trueview is quite accurate, and may actually show the hits worse than they appear in hand. I'll get photos up when I get home of the coin in hand.

I see some chatter and an issue on P of PLURIBUS - hence 63. But its attractive and glossy so I'll go 64 now.

Quote: I see some chatter and an issue on P of PLURIBUS - hence 63. you do realize that an MS66 coin is not perfect. try starting at MS70 and dropping the grade based on number of imperfections rather than using MS65 as the top grade. do you think that a TPG would drop the coin 6 or 7 points based on a the minor mark on the reverse with a tad weakness on the motto and some very minor marks on some the rev lettering? keep in mind that trueview is going to show every single little mark on the coin. just trying to help with your assessments of US coins

Beautiful color on a 65 but for some reason I am noticing a lot of doubling on reverse. Am I wrong in seeing this?

I am for sure MS65BR but it wouldn't surprise me if it was MS66. Love it.

The chatter on the shoulder is from the die ( I am told by a couple professionals) therefore not point deductions. A bonafided hit on the other hand will indeed deduct points . All you have to do is go to the PCGS website site and see graded wheat Lincolns very few have smooth shoulders. Even on the forehead there will be some disturbances. Only pointing out my observations of thousands and thousands of coins on Ha.com and the PCGS website in the last 6 months . For KY, I hope it goes ms-66 or at least 65 . I won't be surprised if it's a 64. Grading the coin in under 30 seconds has me curious. If only a doctor could look at a lump and in 30 seconds say bad or you are okay( although in some instances that can happen). 25 to 75 dollars or more for 30 seconds work is a heck of a profit. Of course not all coins are graded that fast! The TPGS are savvy knowing full well under high magnification something will show up or not attractive enough and the best one is " hey we make mistakes sometimes" nobody is perfect. The TPG'S control the market therefore market graded. Personally I prefer a clean original copper colored Lincoln. It seems a lot of ms-67+ Lincolns have some color to them. I notice a lot of + grades go the coins that have that subtle red toning. In either case KY is putting together a quality set and always love to see what he gets next.
