Despite of what people think about this process I will say this I was not happy with the inconsistant condition of the $1 proof coins I was buying Some looked amazing while others were hazy and some were slightly toned It kind of bugged me NOW They all pretty much look the same which IMO they look amazing Including the 1976 Bicentenial It's nothing that can really be captured with a picture but here is one page

Best advice leave your coins alone . Restorative measures cost big money at the services (NCS) (PCGS) (ANACS) . You can get similar results using a few Of these . Sudsy Ammonia ..fantastic on Cloudy Proofs . Coin Care , MS70 are a few more .

the main active ingredients are sulfuric acid and thiourea Ouch! Myself I only use conservation services from grading companies. I,m too scared to do it myself.I leave it to professionals. I give you credit though for doing it yourself. If you are completely happy with your results then can not condone your approach to cleaning or self preservation on your coins. Good luck, nice collection.

Like BobaDebt, I have quite a few Commems (And Ikes) with haze issues. I revisited this thread and a number of others re: E-Z-est, and picked up a container. Before I tackle any of my commems, I thought I would practice (experiment?) with some less valuable silver coins; a number of weeks ago I acquired a group of unopened 1963 Proof Sets and found all of FHD's and most of Quarters with toning / tarnish issues, obvious candidates for my first cleaning attempts: Here's a 'before' and 'after' of one quarter and an 'after' of a Half Coincidentally, I'm working on an ANACS submittal and am considering submitting one of my untouched 63 FHD's for grading & conservation -- all of the submittals will be eligible for ANACS conservation services -- to see what the professionals come up with. Lastly, thanks to all in this thread for the discussion, pointers, and suggestions.

people pay a large premium for those toned franklins for some reason. I wouldn't dip them. Consider putting on ebay as a buy it now for ~$100

I don't sell on ebay, machine20. I have four more sets I'll leave alone for now. If I were to sell, I would offer them up to this community first.
