AU-55 (or even 58) sounds right, scratches around date detract a bit.

I can't say anything about authenticity, the lighting makes the surfaces look a little weird to my eye but I'm not seeing anything immediately off. If you got that for spot price in a random bulk lot then that's kinda the same odds as winning a lottery lol, lucky.

Nice find if it's real. It's been harshly cleaned or polished though.

I personally don't think this coin was cleaned at all. When I got it , it was thrown in with all the rest of the coins not protected at all , so maybe rubbing with other coins probably makes it liked cleaned . I'll try to get better photos

Looks genuine. Rim has taken a bit of a beating, also...

Trying to interpret the pics (which aren't great for assessment), it does look like perhaps it "could" be cleaned. However, prooflike coins that get somewhat circulated can have that look.

I hope these are better pictures
If cleaned or cleaned harshly still super happy with this find.

Much better pictures.
Too bad someone attempted to clean it, it looks like it could have been in MS condition.
Still a nice pickup and still fairly valuable even cleaned.

If for spot even cleaned like that I'd imagine you have made 25× or more what you paid for spot, more wouldn't surprise me though.

Last photos for sure shows cleaning and the rim has a few dings but still a 48 dollar just depends on the price

You did well, ~$18 for a $1500-$2000 coin at recent auction prices. Congrats.

Photos are better but coin still is a "details" grade. You did well on the price.
