I have never found that soak is the last step in a process!

After I soak a coin in acetone, I either lay it on a soft, clean cotton cloth, or very carefully pat dry it using said cloth. The beauty of acetone is that it evaporates very, very quickly. One can follow-up with quick rinse in distilled water, and pat dry. No rubbing/wiping. Into a 2x2 or album hole soon after. I've done this over many decades with no issues.

suttodh, you made my day! Don't know that I have seen anyone turn themselves in on a coin forum before.

If I were on the jury though, I would have to say, not guilty.

I appreciate all your comments and about cleaning the coin(s). I have metal detected for years as well and I have only given my dug coins a water bath. A few weeks ago I had purchased 100% Acetone for the first time to give my coins a quick bath in an attempt at preservation and to prevent future zinc rot. I am very familiar in cleaning a coin in a proper way and I thank you very much for everyone's input. I did find it amusing that you were going to turn yourself in, lol. I am on many social media sites in which I educate the public of History and fun and exciting hobbies. I just never promote myself much. Having this said, here are the pictures of the 1995 P Lincoln Cent DDO from a short acetone bath, no rubbing or wiping going on here. Not a large change either. Bare with me as I am adjusting my lighting on the digital microscope. Thank you all so much! ~Charlie (female in case you didn't realize)

Charlie, nice find - we all would love to find such a treasure!
By the way, which coin microscope are you using? I ordered a Tomlow DM201 w/ 10 inch stand but they delivered a DM9 with 4 inch stand. FedEx just picked it up for return and refund. Now I'm hesitant to deal with them again.

Thank you Hondo! I purchased the Andonstar from an online retailer beginning with "A". I also purchased a 3 yr protection plan, as I used to sell them as a tech. They are worth it. I also ordered a 12 foot HDMI cord to hook to the 50 inch TV. I forgot to buy a converter from TV to mini micro. I'll probably just use my switcher box. It has closer lenses, but I could not fit the coin in the pictures. The remote allows black and whites as well. You must set your resolution low, as I had to use CCF editor to make the ones above in a lower kb. I made a short unboxing video of the contents via social media, however I am not allowed to share per CCF rules. The 7 inch was more than enough for me. I thought about the 10 but felt it was overkill.. Here's a screenshot of my micro. I have no complaints on this item, yet still exploring. Good luck with finding yours.

Technically yes, but it had environmental issues before the acetone treatment. (Staining around the date.)

IMHO, it is a better-looking details coin.
And after all, it is hers to do with as she sees fit.

Devils advocate here. It is now a cleaned coin. Which is better clean or conserve due to environmental deterioration?

One must also consider the fact that some organic materials are water soluble and others are alcohol soluble

I will consider it a bath and not cleaned. As no rubbing or any attempt to touch the surface with any cleaning instrument had been performed. A mere bath with 100% Acetone is sufficient for me and as I have understood, grading professionals from the big companies would do the same and perhaps even more. I am glad it had a bath to preserve any zinc rot I had seen wanting to start. Therefore, I must disagree with your cleaning comment, however, respectfully acknowledge your opinions. Have a marvelous evening.
