@make, can you please confirm that your cent isn't attracted to a strong magnet? If it is, then this might be nickel plating rather than silver plating.

Hahha <Sad Price is Right Trombone>. It's nothing but dang, when I found it last night had that glimmer of hope that maybe I found something. That's what makes it fun.

3.2 grams is within mint tolerance. 3.1 is normal with a tolerance of +/- .12. Time for you to buy a new scale maybe. A good scale goes down to 0.001 grams. John1

Not done at the mint, not a mint error. Post strike event that altered this coin. No premium for this coin event. Just a face value coin.

Thanks for the replies. Agree with you all that it is PMD. @Spence I tried it on the biggest magnet I could find. No attraction. Question, would a Nickel be attracted to a magnet? I tried a Nickel and there was no attraction either.

Yes good point. Nickel the metal can exhibit slight magnetism, depending on alloying and heat treatment. Nickel the coin (at least here in the US) are not magnetic at all.

@MakesNoCentsToMe: if MAKE or not for YOU, this coin make 1 CENT. Keep will oxide very, very slow and it is the new Design variety of the year. So you has an reference and also one more (hope) coin for fake and simulation or artisanal coins collection.

Lol. Will keep it Silvio. It will go into my collection of 'parking lot coin,' 'acid dipped coin,' 'metal detector find coin,' 'zinc rot coin,' and all the rest I've posted on the community since I started. Lol.

Quote: Would also like to know if there is a reference available to find out what foreign coins have been minted at the U.S. Mint. More food for thought. Scroll down and download koinpro's (Ken Potter's) spreadsheet. I found it to be an interesting foreign coin ref. when needed. Thanks, Doug. http://goccf.com/t/234020&SearchTerms=koinpro,xlsTry again.

Sorry my friend I didn't see this. The Mint Director Report 1964, June to the congress give this database. Sorry I do not find now the link or the PDF on the hard drive.

If it were a different planchet, it would weigh that amount. With the weight slightly higher, it was plated. Just an altered coin. Just face value now.
