I find it very hard to believe these will ever be available by direct ship. Just by the mints definition they don't qualify for direct ship

I got the same e-mail. As of 03/18/09 there had been 65,000 sets ordered. Maybe they ran out of special wrappers and are calling the paper mill!

Isn't a backorder a sell-out of what was previously in stock? For example, say the mint produced 55k sets, and they sold 65k sets. They should've sent out the 55k sets to those whom ordered them first, and the remaining 10k would need to be produced and sent out to the remainder of people whom ordered them later (a backorder). Then if they didn't have enough to fill additional orders, then it would be declared sold out?

If I understand it correctly, then why did everyone get the same email? It sounds like they didn't send any rolls out on 3/20 and just declared all rolls backordered.

I didn't order mine until around 3/16. So are they waiting until they have enough sets to fill everyone's orders until sending out? And if that's the case, then why bother camping the website to order at noon on release day?

I would ask a few questions to my fellow collectors, 1st, Has anyone received a roll or two from the mint?.
2nd, Has anyone placed an order of more than 5-sets and not received a CANCELLATION statement. I have yet to receive any Lincoln 2009 coins, why did the Mint place this 2-13-09 date to order, if this is going on?

Also, has anyone else noticed that more and more people on ebay are selling BOXES of the 2009 cents from all over the 50-States?

Overall, things are not smelling like a level playing field, more like a Pre-Planned scheme!!

Good questions, I've not heard of a single person getting the special rolls from the mint. The demand is incredible, they need to get moving! Perhaps they wanted to "feel out" the demand by opening them up for sale on 2-13 and then produce the appropriate number of sets after seeing the sales level.

Did you see boxes of P mint 09's on ebay? Last I looked there was only D mint coins.

After my original 5 sets are shipped. I was thinking about ordering 5 more to see what happened, but at the rate the mint is shipping now adays it may be up to my heirs to place the 2nd order.
