Are you all sure that the rolls will be the Zinc variety? It doesn't say one way or another on the Mint website. It also says here, http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs...olnRedesign/ that the numismatic versions that are bronze will be included in the annual product offerings. Could it be that the rolls are the bronze cents? Maybe that's why they're so expensive? Just a thought.

You got to love the US mint..lol Its the only gov department that found out they could charge 14 cents (extremely high premiums) for a coin that worth less than a 2 cents in metals and get away with it. Doesn't our tax payer dollars pay for the mints operations..lol Of course I will buy a set roll but I will complain about it all the way Where is my bailout money..lol

Quote: Doesn't our tax payer dollars pay for the mints operations Actually no, tax dollars do not go to the Mint, it is a self-sufficient operation. The US Mint actually creates a net profit every year mainly through seigniorage and also numismatic sales, that net profit is then returned to the Treasury.

Here in New York we like most have to go through loops to order this coin from our Mint, I read this morning that the coins were released into circulation in Alaska and Southern California,I know the boxes will get here (I hope ) sooner or later. This morning I called the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and was told that any bank who receives their coinage and currency from the Federal Reserve, CAN order the boxes from the Feds, only there is no guarantee the coins will be the 2009, they might be, if a special order is placed. I called all local banks, and while on hold they checked the Federal Reserve supplier and I was told "they could not order these coins"

When they ask Obama where the stimulus money will come from, he can now say "From sales of overpriced zinc Cent rolls!" Let's keep America 'rolling' ! I gave 'em their $7.95 ransom profit...
