Are you ready!

Two-roll sets of 2009 Lincoln cents available March 13 at $8.95

The United States Mint will charge $8.95 for two-roll sets of 2009 Lincoln, Childhood cents when the coins go on sale at noon Eastern Daylight Time March 13.

The sets will contain one roll each of the cents struck at the Denver and Philadelphia Mints. Each roll will be wrapped in a paper coin wrap that displays the Mint of origin, the year and the face value of the contents, according to a Mint press release.

The March 9 press release did not specify an edition size for the set nor precisely how long the sets will be offered, only that the rolls would be "available for a limited time only."

In addition to the issue price, the Mint will charge postage and handling of $4.95 per order. With a total cost of $13.90, the Mint is charging 13.9 cents per individual cent.

The sets may be ordered online at https://www.usmint.gov or by telephone at (800) 321-6468.

That's a steep price for 50 cent rolls but still cheaper than the ones selling on ebay.

I agree that is a little much, I believe I will wait until the banks get them in and get them for face value.

The Mint has millions of these struck and ready to ship. The problem is the Fed Reserve has no room for these right now. So It may be a good price if you were looking to sell them right away as an investment banking on the Fed does not all of the sudden start distributing them.

If they sell for $8.95 per 2 roll set we are being ripped off. That is the same price as the Jefferson nickles. which were 4 times the face value.

But as a collector I will shut my mouth and order them

WIF99, I love your response, it is what we all feel. We <<Staff Edit>> but in the end we open our wallets and shut our mouth

Not all of us, I guess. I refuse to be robbed. I will get them at the bank or 6 months from now when they are selling for $2.00. We are our own worst enemy. What do you think they would sell for if no collector paid these exorbitant prices.

I'm not in that big a hurry that I'll pay 14X face for a cent I can get in a few months for face...and I don't think they'll be accumulating value anytime soon, either, special mint wrap or not.

Just my Two Cents worth (28 cents if you purchase it from the mint!)

14X face for a cent
not sure where that figure comes from, but assume that is the price if you order 1 set and nothing else.

Myself when I get mine, each roll will be 1 of 25 items so shipping will be about .20 per item making it just over .09 per coin which is still high ,but I can accept it.
As far as getting them at face that will someday be possible but I have very little patience and My supplier (bank) tells me they have no way to order them.

This is also #1 in a series of 4 If the banks are having trouble getting this 1, what will it be like for the next 3

I think I'm gonna have to put my big boy pants on and order 1 set. I originally wanted 3 sets, but that is one heck of a price. I'm rather disappointed in the price, but will buy 1 set. They should have done buy a territory quarter spoon, and get to add a roll on for $1.00. They wouldn't be able to keep the spoons in stock. They would have sold out quicker than the Buffalo Dollar!

What you guys don't understand, is that THIS IS THE STIMULOUS PLAN FOR CONGRESS AND THE GOVT. THIS TIME !!....
This way, they can bring some money in after spending/sending so much of it out !...

$14.00 for two rolls of Cents.....hmmmmm......I'll probably order just one Set instead of three then......

How much would a roll of the 2009 Proof Copper Cents be worth then ?.......
Rob them from Silver Proof, Proof, Special Lincoln Sets, and American Legacy Sets to make a roll of copper proof Cents and then I bet we could all retire after selling a roll of those right ?
............

heh heh heh.....actually, all kidding aside.....just theoretically.....I wonder what a "Proof copper roll" of these WOULD/will be worth......if someone did that !....

Very creative way in how the Mint has redefined 'robbery'.

If noone would buy the price would come down but you know thats not gonna happen. I guess it will be time for the ebay flip Plus I am sure these are the same business strike coins that will be issued for circulation You know congress knows what there selling for on ebay! I bet if a lot of people buy these which I am sure they will. The next set will cost even more. It will be like the First spouse coins! At first they sold out b/c prices were fair, Then they got greedy and jacked the price up on the next set. Now they cant hardly give them away. These new lincoln cents I feel will have the same occurrence

Do you guys think if we dont buy the log cabin p&d roll set and the lincoln commemorative silver dollars on friday that they will still be available for sale from the mint when the next lincoln formative years cent comes out in the spring to save on the shipping because $8.95 is a pretty steep price to pay allthough we will loose out on the introductory price of the lincoln commemorative silver dollars

The introductory price of $31.95 will be in effect from 12:00 noon (ET), on February 12, 2009, through 5:00 pm (ET), on March 16, 2009, after which the regular price of $33.95 will be in effect.

What if you want all four sets? will you be forced to buy them all separately? Or would you be able to buy all four sets at once. I`m worried that the first one will be sold out before the last one comes out
