Quote: I`m worried that the first one will be sold out before the last one comes out I have no way to know for sure, but I believe that 1 series will disappear each time a new 1 is released. If my memory is correct, that is what has been happening for 10 years with the Quarters. I have read that they will be available for a limited time http://www.usmint.gov/pressroom/ind...lease&ID=999

I think that's correct, every 3 months, as with the dollars/quarters, a new one will come out and the previous one will cease being for sale. They will mint only so many of each design......though I don't know what that mintage number is for each one. But, having said that, it may be that they may/will continue selling them until they're gone too.......which, theoretically, could run into 2110...or however long supplies last. I know you can still get 500 or 1000 coin bags of the 2008 quarters. And you can still get rolls of the Presidents from the first year so.......hard to say exactly what they'll do with these new Cent 2 roll Sets.

Quote: With a total cost of $13.90, the Mint is charging 13.9 cents per individual cent. Then they can keep em! The government is already getting over 3k in capital gains taxes from me this year, Ain't know way I'll give 14 cent for a business strike zinc penny.

This issue could turn out to be the rarest Lincoln Cent produced in quite some time. I know a lot of people are thinking there will be hoards of these at the bank someday....I don't think so....maybe I'm wrong. I'm thinking this will be similar in many ways to the 1931-S issue. The mint has the "perfect storm" brewing for this, no demand by the Fed for the coins, only collector interest. They will be able to sell a ton of these at inflated prices to collectors....CHACHING $$$$.

My opinion as a collector, I believe the U S MINTS have a tremendous stock pile of these coins and because the market is "full" of cents proir to this 2009 coin, the only people wanting this coin will pay one way or another to obtain this coin. I for one do not enjoy spending my money on something that is well over priced, well thought out to bring in as much cash flow as possible and people like myself, the everyday collector WILL spend the money just to make sure we get this coin and who knows (I think ) this coin will come around in $25.00 boxes some day, however I do not want to chance the fact that this might not happen. Now multiply this sale, I will order a few sets, by the masses of collectors and hoarders out there and you have the stage set for market and management 101, when the supply is low, the cost is reflectively high, when the demand is low the cost is going to reflect also, low. The one part I have a problem with, besides the U S MINTS prices is the people selling on ebay, the same coin for what ever the market will bear, not that this is wrong, just I feel it is adding fuel to the already burning barn-fire, all said I too will just open my wallet and pay-up, although I am planning a trip to the PA Mint, do you suppose I will be able to pick-up a box or two,LOL,LOL,....

Thanks for the link Hollywood. These 1 calendar quarter only issues will be the lowest mintage of U.S. cents in over half a century! There will still be plenty to go around but we'll be talking millions instead of billions.
It will be really interesting to see the final 2009 mintages for the bronze cents. All four types combined should come in well under the 484,000 of the 1909 S-VDB but who knows?
