There are LCS in Vancouver, Ottawa, London and especially Toronto. I can't suggest any particular on not knowing what you are after, but your best bet for efficiency would be to go to a show, even a local one, if possible.

You may want to visit the Charlotte Mint Museum. There is a small exhibit of the gold coins produced there as well as assorted art displays. The Reed Gold Mine in Charlotte is an interesting trip. This mine supplied a majority of gold for US coinage in the first half of the 19th century. Enjoy your trip and travel safely! Edited for spelling.

In Ottawa, the BOC museum but the really cool stuff is stored away but you can asked them to bring things out and in the Toronto area a visit to Canadian Coin and Currency, they have probably the best coin store in the GTA, Canada is wonderful especially in the summer months.

Safe travels! And remember, both Canada and US drives on the right. I am in Upstate SC. You just missed the coin show here (two weeks ago). There is a show in Columbia the first weekend of May; looks like it is close or just after your time down here.

Quote: And grab a roll or two of your favorite denomination from the local bank. (Your friend may have to do this since most banks require accounts now for any transaction.) This maybe the easiest way to get some cool coins. If you know what you want your friend(s) can probably order "boxes" from their bank? May make your luggage heavy for the return trip though. Safe travels and happy hunting!

The National Postage Stamp & Coin Show April 15 & 16 is just outside of Toronto. It is one of the larger shows in Canada.

Just the standard ViaRail Canadian, Vancouver to Toronto. Scheduled to take 4 days, but it's routinely late; the travel guides say "plan for it taking up to 5 days". Unfortunately, the eastbound trains are scheduled to hit the two major cities on the route (Edmonton and Winnipeg) in the evenings, so there's little chance of sightseeing there. Wouldn't have minded taking a tour of the Winnipeg mint, but I'll have to make do with Ottawa.
