Silver and worth a heck of a lot more than $84.00 too! Nice...
5000 made too, I gotta wonder how many survive today, I'd guess a lot were lost or melted in the late 1970's silver panic. Amazing piece Jerry! Thanks for sharing it here.

Received today. It looks beautiful in hand. I will send out for grading tom'w. What do you think it might get? Unfortunately, the auction house made the condition of the case even worse by putting a lot number sticker on it. It pulled off the 120 year old finish when removed. Oh well, it will still add to the value.

I don't have any experience in my past in grading medals but this one looks very crusty old and original with light patina, maybe MS64 or better?

I'm thinking solid 65, or better, with a gorgeous antiqued finish look.
Wonderful and historic medal celebrating a foundation of American and Western history.
Pure jelly —— congrats on a great score!

Very attractive. I certainly don't see any evidence of wear.

I merged the grading topic (which was in the wrong forum) into this topic so we can keep all the discussion together. Good luck with the grading!

Called it and I am not very proficient at grading medals. Super piece of history!
