Gotcha thanks. I looked at the pics and the coin didn't look good to me either especially the first pic.

The mint mark is wrong, many broken letters on reverse. The date is too small in relation to the base but you can't tell much from such blurry images. I also received a belligerent sounding reply.

I actually found the coin on the fake coin seller site for $2. The date is the dead giveaway. Oh well, caveat emptor.

Besides all the things actually wrong with it. It does have that "fake look" to it. The way they're typically made to look worn naturally with the light and dark areas. That's literally one of the giveaways.

It's been removed. But now we have no seller name and no image, we don't even know what the coin was.

Thanks. Seller name reggieh2486. Coin was an 1861-O half. Sorry, but my old brain is just horrible at posting photos.

I saved the blurry obverse but I guess I overwrote the reverse. I think the item number was 144987374332 but the CCF ebay tool doesn't retrieve an image. I tried to do a comparison of the relative date sizes last night but without a better image it wasn't very useful.

The date was bowed, high in the middle, just like the one on the bad coin website.

I'm sure that they'll pop up again. Typically when people sell on ebay With fake or counterfeit items always have another name one there Or will set up another. GOOD LOOKING OUT

It doesn't appear that the seller ever sold coins.
