Yeah, thanks, that was my original thought when I first started this topic. My only defense is tha tI was in my 20's and there was no internet to check on them then. .. The coins are very nice in appearance - so that is a bonus.

Quote: yeah, that is what I thought. way back in 1980-something I bought these, thinking they were OGP. Now I have to rebuy the sets from 1953 to 1962.
I had a sinking feeling about these sets - that is why I took them out to have another look at them... Back then, I was in my late teens to early 20's and had no real place to research these out. The coins themselves look great, Maybe I can sell these off to fund getting the real ones. Are you collecting coins or the packaging? The coins are great as is. Screw the packaging. My 2¢

Quote: Are you collecting coins or the packaging? The coins are great as is. Screw the packaging Well 99% coins, 1% packaging. I have 2 collections going. 1. all coins in as best quality I can afford in Dansco albums, 2. a complete set of OGP mint sets of uncirculated and proof sets going back as far as I can afford to get. The sets in this topic were(are?) supposed to be part of my OGP collection.

I have these sets for 1958-63. Really nice coins, comparable to mint sets, as far as I can tell

I agree, these after market sets are great. The coins contained within look really good.

@Dearborn here is one that is less expensive from what looks like a reputable seller. Also just realized you have to be careful on these because I see people selling empty OGPs so there are likely people that make fake ones as it seems like it would be easy to do on these old sets. I am just pointing this out to you because I enjoy finding deals on proof and uncirculated sets, mostly on ebay. I'm not looking for a 1953 UNC set but wanted to point it out to you and NO I am not the seller! https://www.ebay.com/itm/394610587391

Thanks Coin, Al the information above is very helpful. (Yes, I'm aware of the pitfalls of buying these older sets, thanks)
