I blew this coin up to take a much closer look. There are actually 3 die cracks on the reverse, 1 deep "scratch" and a few minor one's on the obverse and several on the reverse. There is atleast 1 tiny rim ding and the top of the first 2-3 feathers clearly have slight wear. The darkened high spots could be bag marks/wear. For those, self inspected reasons, I stand by my low AU estimate. If that coin is only seen by a TPG with a 10x loupe, it will probably grade a bit higher. HumblePie, it's still a lovely coin! Noone cares for a know-it-all but, we all appreciate one another's observations and estimates, even if they come off as being a bit strong and unnecessarily stated.

I'm not trying to stir the grading pot, but I would like to take some more photos of this coin and post them later today. I plan on taking photos to show the luster and some close-ups of the high points. If there is a specific area of the coin you would like a photo of just let me know.
I ask for grading opinions and I appreciate every single one I get. I never have or will get offended.

I was trying to find another example with the same die pair and die state for comparison of planchet and strike but have been unable to locate one just yet.

I haven't checked on this thread until a couple minutes ago so I missed out.
What happened that Coinfrogs post was deleted?

I'm at AU-55 and agree that its nicely toned but I see no luster tucked away within the devices. Some luster is common on AU-58's from the 1890's and especially MS-60 MS-61 coins. Good looking mid AU choice Indian.

I didn't think I had to do this...but it's time to blow the naysayers minds and make them rethink their life (satire) Go ahead and Google Image "MS62 Indian Head cent" The first 2 pictures that pop up are easily dismissed by you naysayers. There are countless others similar to this. According to your rules, this coin would easily be dismissed from au58, let alone Uncirculated. **Instead of defending your position and doubling down, I challenge you rather, to be more open minded, willing to learn and adapt.

Adapt to what? you posted the coin and asked for opionions I gave mine at AU-55 and a profesional grading company showed me wrong so I'm off the mark. I immensely enjoy chiming in about grade opionions on the forum and have had some doozies posted and got mad when I didn't hear what I wanted. Its a nice Indian that most missed no harm done - heading to my LCS to spend money LOL have a good day and glad your 1891 is a MS coin.

Quote: I gave mine at AU-55 and a profesional grading company showed me wrong so I'm off the mark you were not wrong. the OP posted the 97 as a comparison to the original coin which is a 91. could the 91 be low MS? yes but there are markers that say the coin could be lightly circulated
