Very cool find! I've always figured that if I do luck up and find one, it will look about like this.

yep, this is a CAM, in not so good of condition. I wonder if Verdi-care can help this one out.
What a great find! congrats on a high value coin.

but an acetone soak will remove any organic deposits prior to working on the blue/green verdigris. That gets treated with Verdi-Care or other suitable chemical stabilizers.
I agree. In my opinion, this one is worth the effort.

to the CCF I'm going to go against the grain here. This is a WAM. Look at the FG, it's close to the memorial= WAM. Zinc rot closes the gape between A and M making it look like a CAM. And I might be wrong, but CAMs are only on Philly coins.

In sTATes the A is not centered it is closer to the second T, a sign of being a CAM.

Not correct for 1992 when both Philly and Denver have CAM variety.

Noted and Zinc rot could account for that.

But, I stand by my initial view that the OP coin is without a doubt a much desired 1992-D CAM reverse cent. The FG location is just one of the markers and the spacing of A in STATES is much more definitive.

Here are side by sides of the RDV-006 and RDV-007 dies to compare with.

The condition of the coin will affect the value of the coin.

Thank you both for clearing the Denver mm for me. I still say it's a WAM. Zinc rot has eaten away a lot all over this coin. It's effected the A in America, and the A in states. Along with the second T is states showing signs of DDD with the bottom being wider than the top. Coop, are you saying it's 006 or 007?

Looks like the Close AM FS-901 to me, even in this condition it would likely auction at 400 + bucks. Conserved properly more likely 700 + maybe even into 800.00 territory as AU "details corroded ".
I don't think even if profesionally conserved it will get a straight grade but the odds of finding any identifiable 1992 D Close AM is around 100 in over 1 billion. Major find haven't seen a Close AM find on the forum in several years. ANACS will slab, attribute, conserve, grade this coin and get in back to you within 3-4 weeks for around $125.00 that includes shipping and all. If you have little knowledge using acetone or verdi-care then just leave it alone don't get clever any q-tip action will make matters worse.
Congratulations you found one of the modern variety rarities its in the list of "Top 100 U.S. Coins" and you are very fortunate. Do a little jig dance you earned it.
AM nearly touching, non flared G on FG, distance of FG from memorial steps you get a check check triple check! Its a bona-fide rectified Close AM.

Couldn't see the initials location. So I'm still undecided so far.

Thank you all for your help from all of you. All this information was very pleasing to read and informative from my point of view. I'm still a long ways of the learning process about coins. So thanks again everyone.
