Totally confused by this thread. Will the OP simply show an image of the original 1894 submitted for grading.

I've not heard of PCGS randomly deciding to image a coin so my first thought was a data entry error.

I also have not heard of PCGS randomly taking images. I do own one coin in the coinfacts photos, but I did not submit the coin for grading.

even under a scope I see no imperfections. It's my favorite coin in my collection.

That's cool!
Only thing I can think of...maybe it's a new plate coin on the 1894 BN page?
Good luck and keep us posted of the results!

Did you photograph the 1894 before sending it in? Is so, please share the photos so we can see what you have.

I don't think the point was to have us grade the coin. They're simply wondering why PCGS shows a coin as being imaged when they did not request this service.

Sorry no photos. I 4ead they might image a coin worth over $500. I'm wildly optimistic at this point. I will update you all.

Why is everyone worked up about photos? If you want to see coins, go to the grading section!

Call PCGS, they are usually quick to help. If you call at a busy time, you may have to wait a while or have them call you back. Good luck!

I don't know what was I thinking, asking to see a photo of a coin that's being discussed on a site dedicated to coins.

Correction: The topic is on PCGS procedure, not this individual coin.

My hopes have faded. I got the grade information online and it came back AU Details Environmental Damage. I looked up examples of this detail, there's no corrosion and I've had it on a safe for 12 years. Before that it was in an antique store.
I plan to call them tomorrow before they ship it in hopes they can reevaluate. Pretty sad.

Any word on whether or not they imaged it? That was the original question.

They did image it and I did not pay for that service. I can see tiny spot of corrosion in their image that I couldn't see before. Clearly their magnification I star superior to my USB scope lol. Lesson learned. I'll upload the image later this evening.

Interestingly, another one of my orders is being imaged when I didn't request or pay for it.
