Quote: I've noticed in the (past) that a lot of ( us ) don't read all what the person has posted about their coin. Lol especially if there's a lot of wording. We ( Skim ) over the wording and miss that part a person would point out something of their coin. Oh yeah, I'm most definitely guilty of that. I skim then go look at the image, and go back (sometimes) and re-read more carefully, then go back to the coin.

Nice find! What I found useful was starting with nickels. They are cheap, so you aren't tying up too much cash in change. More importantly, you get to examine a whole bunch of coins for the same amount of money. Also, nickels are harder than cents, so the details and errors tend to survive longer in recognizable conditions. I have found lots of hornets nest die chips over the past weeks, plus some much bigger cracked die errors. You also get a good look at Machine Doubling and Die Deterioration Doubling. Once I developed my short list, I eventually found a real DDR and some other genuine FS-### rarities. The die cracks helped a lot because once you see them in 3D, even with a junky $8 clip-on magnifier, you know what to look for. On nickels the cracks are often super bright and quite thick compared to cents. That's definitely true for chips, too. You might even start picking off bar errors, which are a new and popular thing to collect (apparently).

EricH, is it a double die? I got a scale and a magnifying glass, no scope yet. I tried variety vista without any luck.
