Thanks all for the great comments! E&V I just couldn't consider ANACS for this one as the coin would lose close to $200 in value just by changing holders. The CAC holders are selling really high while ANACS, sadly, go very low. I like ANACS both as a company and from the people I've met who work there, but their slabs just don't sell for what a PCGS or CAC slab would do. But the premium for this DDO on the label is really high, so hard to justify keeping it unlabeled. PCGS price guide for a regular MS66RD is $525, while an FS-1102 in that grade guide value is $1400. So even with those values traditionally on the high side, simply adding the variety to the label adds like $800, and even if you aren't money focused this is the kind of figure that is hard to ignore. The coin is going in my collection as this is an upgrade for me, not being sold off, but someday things have to get sold and don't want to be trying to deal with such things later when I can figure them out now.

John, the TPGs really won't put what you want on the label even if you pay them. Only ANACS will do that and they make sure what you want on there is what the coin is. Their variety people are really good. NGS only will put on something they have in their VP program, which is frustrating as they used to do more varieties than they do now, and PCGS will only do CPG varieties not any of the other ones. So far CAC isn't putting any varieties on Lincoln cents according to their website and soon will add just some of the majors. Upside is CAC is only charging $20 to add a variety and if you correctly ID it on your submission form then it's only $10. That's a far better price than most TPGs.

Brand, a real concern would be it coming back as a lower grade. A coin like this can really only go in as a crossover, which means if PCGS thinks it is a lower grade then they just leave it in the holder it is in and while you don't get a new holder it stays where it is with the grade that is on it. And I agree with Frog that it is pretty weak for a 66RD, but that's a CAC grade and as of now they have a strong reputation. We shall see if going from a company that just stickers the best coins in a grade to an actual grading service lowers their street cred.

The doubling is there of course, but still pretty subtle for my eyes. What I find most interesting is the completely unworn surfaces on the broken posts on the letters B and R of LIBERTY. You can really see the structure of the broken off posts from the die.

Yeah, this might take a little while to figure out what's what. As a Lincoln Cent variety guy I figured picking coins in the new CAC slabs would be a solid win, but if they won't put things on the label then there is no registry for such things and no strong value. Folks want to have a TPG certify both the variety and the grade, not just the grade.
