Stupendous modern nickel DDR! And I should know, I found five lines-in-door nickels just tonight! =)

The doubled dies with a recognizable triangle section are the jewels of the Class IX series. Abe Lincoln's thumb gets all the attention, but the 2009 cent DDRs have nowhere near the size or displacement of the nickel DDRs.

Now THAT took me a while to corelate the red and green lines. THAT is a HUGE separation for some doubling.
I may have to go see if that shows up on any of my nickels.

If this is true doubling, then it is no wonder that nobody else saw this already..
Nice catch Tan.

Dearborn, not so many people check 2006-2023 nickels for doubling. Define "true doubling"? It isn't from multiple hubbings, just a hub skip against the die during a single squeeze. But it's as true as the 2009 Lincoln extra thumbs.

That is a very cool find, congrats! I probably would have paused when seeing this but don't know if I would have put 2+2 together.

So, do you know anyone who can list it?

To be or not to be?. What is true or not?

I will not touch the antic coins, but I ask classic coins (basic till 1932), modern coins (till 1999) and the new coins up to day, could be analise same? My tough is NO. Very few similarity yes but not all.

We trend go for Doubbling as the Modern era coins. Do really apply to the new technology and designs of new coins? Me I say no. We discuss about major change. CNC (now they look to eliminate Hubbing), alternative metals, horisontal presses, laser blanking and etc.

I am fun of the modern quarters and halves, but I do not enter in the field of the new era coins, and the reason it is : Each year different design (with some exceptions), need of millions of coins to study and ETC.

TAN I think has this possibility to study and I take his vision about this subject till contraire.

PS: A Die to day has a maximum life of 120.000 coins and majority in Quarters 50 to 60.000. So IMHO new standards for DDs must make surface.

Great eye to spot this one and thanks for posting. This will definitely be on my "look out" list now and I'm curious to see how many more are found.

Tanman - did you attribute it to yourself by yourself?

Kinda, yeah. I mean who else would I attribute it to lol?

Though for this one, Ribar has control over the Jefferson DDs so I did technically submit the photos and info to him.
