Nice coin. I'm thinking it falls in the MS61-63 range. Perhaps a touch of Die Deterioration on the reverse. Suggest not submitting it for grading--just my opinion. Would be a good album hole filler until better comes along.

I'm thinking low MS range. MS-63 sounds right.

Pretty typical MS red coin, lots of field distractions, may have seen some action. AU-63

Thank you all for taking the time to stop by and give your 2 cents on my 1 cent. Reading some of the other similar posts earlier, I have to say it's pretty unanimous verdict on grade, something I haven't seen often on other posts, and that was just what I was needing. Thank you again!

i can see it at AU58 or MS63. really doesn't matter much when it comes to value. at MS63 probably .30. it is a good find though. the ghosting you are seeing is from die deteriation.
as for grading. it doesn't make sense unless a coin is worth $150 or more. most seasoned collectors don't even slab their coins due to the cost. you could expect to spend a minimum of $18 (economy grading) plus shipping/insurance per coin each way plus a subscription to a grading service. For instance PCGS charges a minimum of $69 for a subscription other subscription levels include grading vouchers though so you could reduce these costs. As you can see it really is not worth grading any average coin

panzaldi thank you for the info. I have several like this, some nicer. Some wild error coins as well. Your post got me over to PCGS to look over the options and there is a bulk rate for sending several in one shot. Eventually, I gotta do it at least once just to have the experience of it. Never know, I've seen 2 Big Egos at a car auction pay 10 times the value on a vehicle due to a bidding war one evening. I imagine coin auctions aren't much different. But it's not really about the money, it's about the fun! That said, needs to pay it's own bills. I don't do wallet eating hobbies anymore. Learned that lesson already...

I have been in this hobby for a couple decades now and been actively trying to grade coins for a few years. Grading skills take a very very long time, extreme dedication, and hundreds of thousands of coins reviewed to get good at with high grade examples and viable error coins. I will never expect to 'find' any coins worth the price of grading that I can turn for a profit. Period, Better luck with scratch offs at the 7/11.

Who would spend grading fees on a 65RB 1960-D cent?
