I would try and settle with the seller in a civil manner. Then I would not buy from them ever again. That is a sorry excuse for packaging. I mean I went so far as to send a padded envelope inside another padded envelope to Matchbox just for a the offer he had on D mints. And that was for 2 coins!!

OK, OK, OK. The sellers name is Ryan Jester and he has MUCH integrity!. I got an e-mail saying sorry and to make it up, he will replace the 2 rolls that were lost. (packed better). The 3 rolls are still busted but, Hey, that's more than I was expecting.
So Ryan, if you're here, you are a class act with good taste in boards!.
xshift...Williston is MY end.
As I expect with a lot of you here, I have a great relationship with my mailmen and women. I get a lot of packages. He said "rolls of "pennies" were going all over the mailroom". "I knew immediately who's they were".
So I think all is well for now and thank you all for your input. If Ryan wasn't a stand up guy, which he is. I would have done...some of what you have suggested. Some of you kinda scare me now.:)
Thanks,
A.

Please don't forget to show him those boxes, they are only a few months old and he may not know about them.

Quote: Second, send the seller a link to these small flat rate boxes so he/she doesn't make the same mistake again. They are the same price to ship as the envelope he used no matter what they weigh, and they are much safer for rolls quoted for truth, that is the best way to send rolls and bulk coin lots, much more secure and the same price as a flimsy envelope. Quote: Why in the world would someone send rolls of coins in a Flat Rate ENVELOPE? I agree with Bobby131313, a Flat Rate BOX would have been a no-brainer on the sellers part. Definitely go for the jugular, and demand a refund; Improper shipping, and Missing a couple of rolls (3 instead of 5 shipped).
I would be pretty chapped over this situation, especially with the mark-up and demand for the Log Cabins Lincolns.
success,
Not sure what the flat rate envelope runs, but there is a new flat rate box that would accomodate these perfectly. It's about the size of a VCR tape roughly, and the rate is $4.95. The boxes are decently sturdy and best of all free from the post office. Oh well...live and learn. Sounds like the seller is making good on it.

I just shipped out a $1000.00 slabbed coin to California and I made a insert that held a slab that had three layers of bubble wrap around it and then with a layer of cardboard all around that and it fitted snug in another box. after that I used brown 3 inch reinforced tape around the last box. Short of a house falling on it. The guy must have had a few choice words opening that box. The way he sent those rolls were irresponsible. and you know what, From the looks of that ripe, it was open by someone before or after the first roll may or may not have fallin out.

Jg. Yep North Dakota. Cool!. I guess you'll know what I'm talking about when I tell you Burger Queen and Pizza has gone out of business and so has WeBe Pizza. I loved WeBe's. Can't believe it.
Oh, and Welcome to the forum!.

Those boxes are great (much better than the flat rate envelopes) and I use them to ship rolls and small amounts of bulk coins all the time. They aren't THAT strong, though; I would recommend that when using those boxes after you pack and label it completely wrap the box in plastic clear tape. Leave no seam exposed. After I do that I feel confident about shipping!

If your handy with simple tools...
Here is a suggestion that I do when I ship flat rate of certain heavy items or smaller expensive items that need a bit more sturdiness. It's a bit of extra work and may seem like overkill but it serves a purpose.
Go to local Lowes etc and purchase a sheet of Lu-an ("door skin's")about $8.00 +/- (One skin goes a long way..) Cut 6 sections to inside dimension of shipper. Glue sections to inside of shipper. Insert item to be sent pack as normal with foam etc. Put in place last section glue the edges. Close shipper and tape like their is no tomorrow and send.
This does make a great improvement to the durability of the package from rough handling. It makes things difficult for the Bic Pen inspection (They stab the side of box to facilitate a look inside). It also makes it very clear that someone broke into it to steal the item.
Peace ST~

Man, sorry to hear that! For the life of me I will NEVER understand people shipping ANY rolls in a freakin envelope! I've had two problems this year already with idiots trying to be cheap and shipping me rolls in an envelope, in on case the rolls were totally GONE and in the other case a roll was missing. SHIP ROLLS IN A BOX OR DON'T SHIP THEM!

Why would anyone send those in an envelope Put heavy items or expensive coins in a box Contact the seller first, sometimes, a little communication goes a long way. Next step would be to file a claim.
