That's why I would ask questions on this platform because you guys are seasoned coin people even though it was misguided, lol So I took a pic of my coin and overlayed the "6" from an official 1916 quarter. Below I show the official pic. Then my coin with a overlay. My "6" that I can sort of make out is highlighted in yellow and what it's supposed to look like is highlighted in red just to the left in the same image. I enhanced my coins pic quite a bit to show what I see. Are my eyes playing tricks on me , or one too many beers lol Please, your input is great appreciated.

Sorry, your coin is a 1917, there is absolutely no doubt. Do you realize that the phantom "6" you show is in the place of a "1" on the actual date?

Forget about the 6 in the date as it is just rub of the coin. The 1916 and 1917 T1 have different designs on the obverse. Look at the small hair curl above the big curl. Yours has the 1917 position. Look at the drape above IN GOD Yours goes below the ledge. The 1916 is on top of the ledge.

I'm not sold on it being a 17 just based on playing with filters on the image. If diagnostics say otherwise so be it. I can see them being definitive in this condition. I think it is a 6 on the end, questionable on what leads it tho there are some signs that it could be a 1 and others that it could be a 2. Can you shoot a negative with your scope? For the money, send it in. If you are right you have a couple of K coin. If you are wrong you're out 50 bucks.

The coin has to be a 1916 or 1917 as there are no stars on the reverse. Do not get caught up on the last digit of the date. Do your analysis on the hair, ribbon and drapery difference between a 1916 and 1917. Once you do the analysis, I believe you will come to the conclusion the coin is a 1917. On the lower drapery the drapery curls back up on the 17 and on the 16 it stops.

The pics above leave no doubt and lead us right back to what CoinFrog first mentioned. Thanks Slider for posting the comparison!

Yup I see it now. Was stuck focusing on the right side of the drapery when in fact, the left side makes it certain.

There are two knobs at the bottom base of the foot drapery on the 1917 that I never noticed before. Those two knobs show up on the OP coin.

This is a 1917 without a doubt.
End of discussion.
